Diablo 2 is an award winning action roleplay classic from Blizzard. Thanks to the free online game platform battle.net Diablo 2 is one of the most popular online games in the world. The arch rival in the game is Diablo, Lord of Terror, whose goal is to subject the human race with the help of his mighty allies to a disastrous reign. Diablo 2 owes its enormous success to the well balanced character classes and the large variety of items that even long time players don't get bored with.

 

A special challenge is offered by the Ladder mode in the online game, a ranking which is restarted every year. Everyone starts with a new character after the reset.

You have the choice between five different character classes (Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, and Sorceress), to defeat evil and eventually Diablo himself. The game consists of four acts with a boss monster at the end of each: Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto and finally Diablo. With the expansion Lord of Destruction (LoD) Diablo 2 was expanded with a fifth act, two other character classes (Assassin and Druid), many new Diablo 2 items and Baal as the final enemy.

On your adventure through the game you have to finish a variety of quests, e.g. to find an amulet, kill a special monster etc. The collected experience points you gain with quests and killing monsters makes your character more powerful. When a certain amount of xp is reached you rise a level. As you get higher level it takes longer to reach the next level. With every level up you receive five attribute points, which you can divide between Strength, Dexterity, Vitality and Energy.

What makes the game so much fun are the items. Diablo 2 items come in many types: armor, weapons, jewels, gems, runes, runewords and charms.
