As a Leatherworker in World of Warcraft you make leather armor and armor patches out of animal skins and furs. These are then used to make metal armor and better weapons. They are also an alternative to enchanting. Certain classes like druids, hunters and rogues can only use leather armor so they are dependand on the leatherworker.
Working with leather is simular to the skinner because you can get your own materials. At a higher level you can specialize in being a dragonskin, element or clan leathermaker to make stronger items.
